Who is therapy with a Polish psychologist in Berlin for?

If you live abroad, you may experience additional burdens: language barriers, work pressure, being torn between Poland and Germany, and feeling “in-between.” Therapy in Polish offers the opportunity to discuss these issues naturally, without searching for words. I invite adults living in Berlin and the surrounding areas who are experiencing:

chronic tension, anxiety, and worry,

low mood, burnout, feeling of emptiness

difficulties in relationships – in partnerships, family, work,

effects of trauma or difficult childhood experiences,

self-esteem issues, perfectionism, shame.

Problems of Life in Emigration - Psychologist for Emigrants

Living abroad is one of the most exciting and life-changing experiences, but it can also be one of the most challenging. Are you living in Berlin and looking for a Polish-speaking psychotherapist with whom you can freely discuss emotions, relationships, and daily stress? I work with individuals who have moved to Germany, live between two countries, struggle with loneliness, tension, and the feeling that they “should be able to handle it themselves.”

How I Work - CBT and Schema Therapy

My name is Katarzyna Maruszewska –I am a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT) and a Schema Therapist. I combine work on what is happening day-to-day – thoughts, emotions, behaviors – with a deeper understanding of ingrained schemas and modes that affect relationships with others and with oneself.

I work with individuals living in Berlin and other cities in Germany, where I maintain a private practice as Heilpraktikerin beschränkt auf das Gebiet der Psychotherapie (Heilpraktikerin limited to psychotherapy), I most often help with:

What sets us apart:

About us O Nas Kw Nowe Widoki

Jak mogę ci pomóc?

In therapy, we examine what you experience daily in Berlin and Germany – emotions, thoughts, bodily tension, and relationships. Together, we explore the origins of your reactions and what might be sustaining them.
We can work on better coping with stress, anxiety, and low mood, improving communication in important relationships, and building a kinder approach to yourself.
Regardless of the issue you bring, respect, understanding, and a sense of safety in our connection are important to me. If you feel you need to talk about what’s happening, you can schedule an initial meeting to see if this form of therapy is right for you.

Our mission. Who are we?

Our goal is to help people from Poland. We want them to feel comfortable while staying away from home, family, and friends, so they can fully enjoy their new experience without unnecessary stress and anxiety. We especially direct our offer to women, regardless of age or life situation. We want to help, support, and empower them in their development and in overcoming difficulties.

Emigration can be one of life’s most difficult crises. Some individuals experience symptoms of depression: a drop in energy, a sense of meaninglessness, withdrawal from social contact, and difficulty enjoying their new surroundings.
If such symptoms persist for an extended period, speaking with a psychotherapist can be the first step toward regaining agency and seeking support tailored to your situation in Germany.

Anxiety Disorders and Emigration

Anxiety, constant tension, and a sense of uncertainty are common experiences after moving abroad. Being “constantly new” – in work, language, relationships – can eventually lead to escalating anxiety and a feeling of lack of control.
In therapy in Polish, you can calmly talk about what you fear, learn to understand what sustains your anxiety, and develop concrete ways to cope on a daily basis.

Information for patients living in Germany

Within Germany, I operate as Heilpraktikerin beschränkt auf das Gebiet der Psychotherapie (Heilpraktikerka limited to psychotherapy). This means that sessions are not billed to statutory health insurance funds (Gesetzliche Krankenversicherung) and take place on the basis of private practice.

Some private health insurances or additional insurances may partially reimburse the costs of therapy provided by Heilpraktikerin – In such a situation, please contact the insurer directly before starting the therapeutic process.

Yes. We conduct online therapy for individuals living throughout Germany, and some sessions can also take place in person in Berlin. Online sessions are conducted with the same standards of confidentiality, data security, and quality of work as in the office.

In Germany, the title Psychotherapeutin / Psychotherapeut is legally protected and may only be used by individuals with state approval (Approbation). I work as a Heilpraktikerin beschränkt auf das Gebiet der Psychotherapie, which means I am authorized to conduct psychotherapy independently under separate regulations (Heilpraktikergesetz), but I do not bill sessions through statutory health insurance.

The first meeting (online or in the office in Berlin) is a time to get acquainted, discuss your situation, and your expectations for therapy. I will ask questions about what is most difficult for you right now, what symptoms you are experiencing, and what you need – and together we will assess whether my approach is suitable for you. At the end, we will discuss organizational matters: the frequency of meetings, the rules for canceling sessions, and how payments are handled.

First and foremost, a stable internet connection and a webcam (you can connect from a computer or phone) – we recommend using a private (not public) Wi-Fi connection.

Ensure you have a safe space where you feel comfortable.

No. I conduct therapy in Polish, and all communication—including documentation and the contract—can be in Polish. If you live in Germany, you can fully benefit from therapy without needing to use German.

Yes, many people combine psychotherapy with pharmacotherapy managed by a psychiatrist in Germany. If needed, I can help you prepare information about the course of your therapy, which you can then share with your treating physician with your explicit consent.

Psychotherapy sessions do not replace medical or psychiatric intervention in emergencies. If there is an immediate threat to life, suicidal thoughts, a severe mental crisis, or a sudden worsening of your condition, please contact a doctor, the nearest psychiatric clinic, or call emergency number 112 in Germany immediately.
